MEHERU SPREAD HER ARMS

David Fenster

Ever since Meheru was four or five, whenever Baba visited, he asked her, in Freiny's presence, what she wanted to do with her life. Meheru always told Baba, "I want to be like the others [women mandali] and serve you."

Baba was pleased, and Freiny too seemed happy with her daughter's response and never discouraged her.

Baba then asked, "Whom do you love most in the whole world?"

"You, Baba," was Meheru's enthusiastic and definite reply.

"How much do you love me? Just a little bit?"

"No, a lot!"

"How much?"

Meheru spread her arms as wide as she could. Baba beamed with pleasure and embraced her heartily.
