When he was a boy called Merwan, Meher Baba loved to fly kites with his friends and his brother Jamshed.
In India, kite strings are coated with cut glass so they are very sharp. When children fly a lot of kites together, they use their own string to try and cut the string of another kite. When a kite falls, whoever catches it gets to keep it.
Once, Meher Baba said, he and his brother Jamshed were running so fast to catch a kite, that Jamshed fell in an open sewer hole! Jamshed smelled so bad that Merwan had to wash Jamshed and his clothing.
