Jamie Newell has been composing and performing devotional music dedicated to Avatar Meher Baba for many years. A native of rural Massachusetts, Jamie Newell first became aware of Meher Baba when he was fifteen years old. While still a teenager Jamie migrated to Boston, MA where he joined Muddy Waters' guitar player Luther "Georgia Boy" "Shaky Snake" Johnson as a sideman. Soon Jamie was traveling in packaged blues shows featuring artists such as Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Mose Allison, John Hammond, Robert "Jr." Lockwood, and other blues greats. This affiliation with Johnson ultimately led to work as a sideman with a variety of bluesmen including John Lee Hooker, James Cotton, Jr. Wells, Hubert Sumlin, Big Joe Turner, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and others. "It was incredible," he says, "to come out of this little country town and suddenly find yourself hanging out with some of the real giants of the blues. You can't help but have that affect you."

Since that time Jamie has traveled all over the world performing music for Meher Baba including trips to Assisi Italy, Meherabad India, New York, NY, San Francisco, L.A., and his current home in Nashville, TN.
