Home Medical Service Archival Preservation Meher Baba Information
Meher Fund supports a number of charitable medical projects in the Ahmednagar District of Maharashtra State in India (about 150 miles northeast of Bombay). In this rural area of the Deccan Plateau, Meher Baba spent much of His life. During the 1920s, Meher Baba established a hospital and free medical dispensary and would often take care of patients personally. In later years, various medical projects of this sort continued under His direction.
The Meher Health Centre, located in the Arangaon District, provides free medical care to local villagers under the direction of the Avatar Meher Baba Perpetual Public Charitable Trust. With a small staff this clinic treats over 30,000 patients per year. The Meher Hospital also provides medical care to the public, including medical testing, a dental clinic, and cataract surgery clinics. Another free clinic, the Meher Free Dispensary-Meherazad, operates at Meher Baba's home under the direction of Dr. Goher Irani.
